Pokertime bonus change

Written on July 29th, 2010. Posted in Poker News

Pokertime has today announced that they will be moving away from the current offering of a free $10 on sign up bonus and will instead offer a rewards based bonus. Instead of just giving away free cash they are rewarding poker players with $5 dollars for every 5 poker points earned at the Pokertime room.

Pokertime is on the Microgaming network that has just become the 8th largest Poker network according to some reports. The Microgaming poker network seems to be in an aggressive mode in recent times as this news follows the recent news re a joint venture with 888 in the French Poker market.

The change in the poker bonus simply reflects what the rest of the Internet poker market is moving to. Instead of targeting players with free money offers it seems that poker rooms are now rewarding players who bring in rake. A number of rooms do this via various schemes and most involve Poker points in various guises. We think that this is a great move.

Pokertime have also announced that they will be releasing a revolutionary training and poker analysis platform in due course. These are interesting times to be a Pokertime player.
