Microgaming Launch Italian Poker Network
Microgaming who are based in the Isle of Man today announced the launch of a new Poker network in Italy after gaining approval from the regulators in Italy. This announcement follows a period of testing and Microgaming have announced that the new Italian Poker network is now live and that Italian poker players now had access to an even wider range of Internet poker games to choose from.
The CEO of Microgaming Roger Raatgever had the following to say “We have worked tirelessly to ensure that the new poker network is fit for purpose to meet the needs of the Italian player base as well as the Italian regulatory standards”
Ladbrokes are apparently going to be spearheading the networks move into Italian Internet Poker market whilst talks are ongoing with other parties on the Microgaming network about entering the competitive Italian Poker Market. The CEO of Ladbrokes Italia indicated that Microgaming had adapted its services specifically for the Italian Poker market so that it could compete effectively in this regulated market.
It seems that this is the way forward for gaming in Europe and the Italian regulatory framework will be looked at closely by other countries who will in all probability adopt a similar position. At least in Europe you are allowed to as an individual play Poker on the internet. Poker players in the USA are still outlawed although there does remain some hope that new legislation will be enacted sooner rather than later.
