California Online Poker Bill debate
Apparently today is the day that the California Senate will debate re Senate Bill 1485. This is in effect wether to allow legalised online poker in the state of California. There are a few objectors to the bill in its current form including the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. They state that they support a bill allowing intrastate poker and the revenue that it will bring, but the current bill does not work for them.
In effect the current bill will allow 3 operators to provide legal internet gambling services to the residents of California. The legal age of players has to be 21 years and older and if you as a poker player want to play poker it will have to be with one of the three hub operators. California residents who play on unauthorised sites will apparently be subject to legal action. So if you dont like any of the three operators you are in big trouble if you live in California.
Currently there are a number of States in the US debating on legalizing internet poker and this seems set to rumble on into the future. A number of the states including California are looking at Internet Poker as a way of making more revenue to combat budget deficits.
