Aussie Millions Poker Tournament
The Aussie Millions poker tournament is formally known as the Crown Australian Poker Championship. It is dubbed as the largest tournament in the Southern Hemisphere, inasmuch as there aren’t much tournaments held in this part of the globe.
This tournament is annually held as Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. It first started in 1997, with the buy-in at $1,000 and the jackpot prize at $74,000. From 74 participants, the number grew to 263 participants in 2005. The main event had a buy-in of $10,000 and a jackpot prize of $2,630,000. Players from countries such as USA, Italy, Holland, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, England, and Ireland participated in the event.
In 2006, the number almost doubled to 419 participants. In 2007, the number again grew to 747 players. The recent 2008 Aussie Millions was participated in by 780 players. The winner was Russian Alexander Kostritsyn.
